Blackwell Trail - Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire

The Blackwell Trail is a short off road trail of just a couple of miles in length starting at Fordbridge lane, South Normanton, Derbys along part a former coal pit railway line and crossing the county border finishes on the edge of an industrial estate at Huthwaite Nottinghamshire. The trail passes under the M1 Motorway and has direct access midway at Hilcote. this trail is not too far from Brierley forrest park if you go through the housing estate on the old pit site in Huthwaite. The Blackwell Trail will eventually link back up to Alfreton at some point in the future also linking to the Silverhill Trail existing and proposed Route 67 of the National cycle network. I incorporate this trail into my usual circuit of Silverhill Trail and Brierley Park creating a loop of the three trails.

June 2013 Update, the Blackwell trail has now been extended to Westhouses, it will eventually join to the Silverhill Trail route 67 when the proposed section is built from westhouses to Gloves lane Blackwell to Join the Phoenix Greenways.
